In several counselling sessions this week, I encouraged counselees to seek a divine perspective. In counselling, there is limited comfort on the human or inter-personal level, even if it is of the finest sort. David, at one of his lowest lows in life, "encouraged himself in the Lord his God". He didn't simply "encourage himself", but he saw the involvement of a glorious, sovereign, covenant God, and that is what brought encouragement.
