I decided on a new hobby for 2012 -- to discover the noisiest Church in Cape Town. This will require a (pricy) digital sound level meter with capture and hold, which I obtained today. Any tips re Churches would be welcome. OBSERVATION: Last year, my new hobby was to determine once and for all which is the steepest street in Cape Town (see Steepest Street: Low-Down).

It certainly won't be ours! We tend to think that point of the Liturgy (or at least once central aspect of that) is to lead one to silence...
I am virtually certain before I start, having done a little homework, that some Churches in Cape Town are in the "instant damage to hearing" category! And that's not a joke.
I'll have to take your word for it as I don't intend exposing my eardrums or my soul to such things! But it does indeed seem rather disturbing what is being done in the name of religion, and Christianity at that.
