New Life
How to know God in your life
________________________________________________
THE BASIC FACTS

In the beginning, God created a magnificent world. Not only was it magnificent, but it was perfect. “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31).

The world is not, however, a perfect place today.  The Bible tells us that sin entered the world (Romans 5:12). All the trouble in our land is due to sin.  All the trouble in our lives is due to sin.

Sin spoils. Sin spreads. It hurts others. It ruins our happiness. It fills us with regrets. It destroys our spiritual life.  The Bible says: “All have sinned” (Romans 3:23).

Worse than this, God is angry with sin. Because of our sin, “God's wrath remains on us” (John 3:36). The Bible makes it clear that if we die in this condition, we are condemned eternally. We will “go away to eternal punishment” (Matthew 25:46). This is the penalty for sin.

WHAT GOD DID

God's love for us makes Him long for us to return to Him.  “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Jesus Christ was without sin (2 Corinthians 5:21), yet He paid the price of sin on the cross.  “Christ died for our sins” (1 Corinthians 15:3).  He suffered and died in our place.

The first sign of new spiritual life is when God's Holy Spirit convicts us of sin.  By His Spirit, He speaks straight to our heart.  The Bible says: “He will convict the world of guilt, with regard to sin” (John 16:8).

God may give us a wake-up call – or He may speak to us quietly.  In fact, it is a tremendous privilege when the Holy Spirit speaks to us, and convicts us of sin.

The reason why the Holy Spirit convicts us is so that we may turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness.  (Note that no sin is too big for Him to forgive).

HOW TO RESPOND

When you are convicted of your sin, you need to do three things.

1. Confess your sin to God (Proverbs 28:13).

2. Believe that Jesus Christ is the one who has power to forgive your sin, because He died on the cross for you.  He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). A verse in the Bible describes it like this:  “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2:21).  You call on His name because you know your need (for your sins to be forgiven), and you call on His name because you know His power (to forgive your sins).

3. Invite God's Holy Spirit to take over every part of your life (Romans 8:9) – not just one part or another, but to take total control: of your work, your family, your friendships, your time, your goals, your money.  Until now, you were on the throne of your life.  Now, Jesus Christ must be on the throne.

A PRAYER

Here is a helpful prayer to pray, to invite Jesus into your life:

Almighty and Holy God, I know that I have sinned through the things that I have thought, said, and done.  I know that You have  been  angry  with me for my sins.  I confess my sins to You.  I believe that Jesus died for my sins upon the cross.  I believe that He is the only one who has power to forgive my sins.  I ask for forgiveness through Jesus.  I ask Your Holy Spirit to take over every part of my life.  I ask Jesus to be on the throne of my life.  And I ask that I may serve You with love and obedience all the years of my life.  Amen.

You have said this prayer and meant it.  You have asked Jesus Christ to come into your life, and He has.  The Bible says: “He who believes has everlasting life” (John 6:47).  And Jesus says: “If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in”  (Revelation 3:20). That is a promise.

You have a new relationship with God.  This is called a covenant relationship, because it is based on God's promise.  Nothing will change this, not even sin.  From now on, when you do sin, confess it immediately.  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

WHAT TO EXPECT

God is now involved in your life in a special way.  Now that you know God through Jesus, expect what a missionary called “wonder upon wonder” (John 1:16).  God will reveal things to your mind, He will change things in your heart, He will make things happen in your life.  Some things will be hard, but all of them will bring blessing (Romans 8:28).

Expect that your life will change.  God's plan is to make you more and more like His Son Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).  Expect new spiritual life.  Expect the power to love others.  Expect changes in your thinking and speaking and behaviour.  Expect increasing freedom from things that once bound you.

Expect that God will give you a gifting and a calling.  Your gifting is a special spiritual gift (or gifts) from God (1 Corinthians 12: 4-11).  Your calling is the place where God wants to make that gift work.  If you don't know what your gifting or your calling is, find out more about the spiritual gifts, and ask Christian friends to help you find it.

WHAT TO DO

Now that you have entered into a new relationship with God, there are a few things you need to keep on doing:

1. Read the Bible. In the Bible, God reveals to you who He is, how He acts, and what He wants of you (Psalm 119:105).  The Bible changes you. The gospel of John and the Psalms are good places to start.

2. Stay in prayer (Ephesians 6:18). Someone said that prayer means giving to God the things that are not in your own hands, but His.  Ask Him to speak to you, and to guide you.  Remember not just to ask for things, but to worship and praise Him, to thank Him, to confess your sins to Him, and to pray for others.

3. Stay in fellowship (Hebrews 10:25).  Go to Church on Sunday, and take part in the Church life.  One of the signs that you have met Jesus is that Church becomes meaningul to you, and encourages you, where it may have meant little before.  If you can, make an effort to go to a Church group during the week (Acts 2:46).

4. Talk about your faith (Romans 10:9).  Don't be ashamed to be known as a Christian at work and at home.  Tell your Church, too, because they will help you find a place in the Christian family.

5. Serve others (Galatians 5:13).  This includes those who are closest to you, like your family.  You are not living for yourself any more.  Christ is on the throne of your life.

Ubomi Obutsha [New Life]
Umazi njani uThixo ebomini  [How to know God in your life]
_____________________________________________________
ISISEKO SENYANISO [THE BASIC FACTS]

Ekuqaleni uThixo wadala umhlaba obalaseleyo ngobuhle. Wawungabalaselanga ngobuhle kuphela, wawungenasiphako. ”UThixo wabona  konke akwenzileyo ukuba kulungile” (IGenesis 1:31).
Umhlaba awuyiyo indawo engenasiphako namhlanje. IBhayibhile isixelela ukuba kwangena isono ehlabathini (AmaRoma 5:12). Zonke iingxaki ehlabathini zibangwa sisono. Zonke iinkathazo ehlabathini zibangwa sisono.

Isono siyonakalisa. Isono siyanwenwa. Sonakalisa ukuchulumanca kwentliziyo. Sisenza sizisole. Sitshabalalisa ubomi bethu bomoya. IBhayibhile ithi, ”Bonke bonile” (AmaRoma 3:23).

Okona kubi kukuba uThixo usiqumbele isono. “Ngenxa yesono sethu ingqumbo kaThixo iphezu kwethu” (Yohane 3:36). IBhayibhile iyasicacisela ukuba xa sinokufa sikule meko, sigwetywe ngonaphakade. ”Siyakuya kwisohlwayo saphakade” (Mateyu 25:46). Lo ngumvuzo wesono.

OKWENZIWA NGUTHIXO [WHAT GOD DID]

UThando lukaThixo lwenza ukuba sinqwenele ukubuyela kuYe. “UThixo walithanda ihlabathi kangangokuba wanikela ngoNyana Wakhe okuphela kwamzeleyo ukuze nabani okholwayo kuYe angatshabalali koko abe nobomi obungunaphakade” (Yohane 3:16).

UYesu Krestu wayengena sono (AmaKorinte 5:21) kodwa wahlawula ityala lesono emnqamlezweni. ’UKrestu wasifela isono (AmaKorinte 15:3) weva iintlungu, wafa endaweni yethu.

Uphawu lokuqala kubomi obutsha bomoya kuxa uMoya kaThixo oyiNgcwele esikhumbuza ngesono. NgoMoya wakhe uthetha ngqo ezintliziyweni zethu. IBhayibhile ithi “uyakulibeka ityala ihlabathi ngesono salo.”

UThixo angasishukumisa okanye athethe kancinane ezintliziyweni zethu. Okunene kuyinyhweba enkulu xa uMoya oyiNgcwele ethetha nathi, esikhumbuza ngezono zethu.

Isizathu sokuba uMoya oyiNgcwele asikhumbuze ngezono zethu, kukuba siguquke sibuyele kuYesu Krestu sixolelwe. (Akukho sono sikhulu angenakusixolela Yena).

INDLELA YOKUPHENDULA [HOW TO RESPOND]

Xa uzibona unesono kufuneka wenze izinto ezintathu:

1. Vuma isono sakho kuThixo (Imizekeliso 28:13).

2. Kholelwa ukuba uYesu Krestu unamandla okuxolela izono zakho, ngokuba wakufela emnqamlezweni. NguYe indlela eya kuBawo (Yohane 14:16) Ivesi eseBhayibhileni ichaza ngoluhlobo: “Nabani obiza igama leNkosi, uyakusindiswa.” (Izenzo 2:21). Ungalibiza igama lakhe kuba usazi ukuba uyamdinga ukuze izono zixolelwe. Ungalibiza igama lakhe kuba uwazi amandla akhe (okuxolela izono).

3. Mema uMoya oyiNgcwele athabathe yonke indawo yobomi bakho (AmaRoma 8:9), ungamkhetheli indawo koko umvumele akulawule ngokupheleleyo emsebenzini, kwizizalwane, kwizihlobo, ixesha lakho, izicwangciso zakho, imali yakho. Kude kube ngoko ubuzilawula, ngoku uYesu Krestu usetroneni.

UMTHANDAZO [A PRAYER]

Nanku umthandazo onokunceda umeme uYesu ebomini bakho:
Bawo Onamandla Onke noThixo oyiNgcwele ndiyazi ukuba ndone ngendlela yokucinga ngokwenza nangokuthetha. Ndiyazi ukuba undiqumbele ngenxa yezono zam. Ndiyazivuma izono zam kuwe. Ndiyakholwa ukuba uYesu wandifela emnqamlezweni. Ndiyakholwa ukuba nguye onamandla okuxolela izono zam. NgoYesu ndicela ukuxolelwa. Kwaye ndicela uMoya Oyingcwele alawule ubomi bam bonke. Kwaye ndicela ukuba ndikukhonze ngothando nentobeko yonke imihla yobomi bam. Amen.

Uwutshilo lomthandazo, ngenene nangenyaniso, umcelile uYesu Krestu ukuba angene ebomini bakho, uzile? IBhayibhile ithi, ”Okholwayo unobomi obungunaphakade (Yohane 6:47). UYesu uthi, “Ukuba uthe waliva ilizwi lam, wawuvula umnyango wentliziyo yakho, ndiyakungena ngaphakathi” (IsiTyhilelo 3:20). Esi sisithembiso.

Unobuhlobo obutsha noThixo. Oku kubizwa njengobuhlobo besivumelwano ngenxa yesiseko sesithembiso sikaThixo. Akukho nanye into enokusitshintsha, nkqu nesono. Ukususela ngoku sivume isono sakho kuThixo kwangoko. ”Xa sithe sazivuma izono zethu, uthembekile ukuba asixolele, asihlambulule kuko konke ukungalungisi kwethu (1 Yohane 1:19).

ONOKUKULINDELA [WHAT TO EXPECT]

UThixo uzifakile ebomini bakho ngendlela ekhethekileyo. Ngoku kuba umazi uThixo ngoYesu, lindela umthunywa ogama lingu ”Simangaliso emva kwesimangaliso” (Yohane1:16).

UThixo uzakuzityhila izinto engqondweni yakho, eza kwenza izinto zenzeke ebomini bakho. Ezinye izinto zizakubanzima, kodwa zizakukuzisela iintsikelelo (AmaRoma 8:28). Lindela ukuba ubomi bakho buza kutshintsha. Isicwangciso sikaThixo kukukwenza ukuba ufane noYesu Krestu uNyana Wakhe (AmaRoma 8:29). Lindela ubomi obutsha boMoya. Lindela amandla okuthanda abanye abantu. Lindela utshintsho kwindlela yokuthetha nokuziphatha. Lindela inkululeko kwizinto ezazikubophile ngaphambili.

Lindela ukuba uThixo uza kukunika isiphiwo nobizo. Isiphiwo sisipho (okanye izipho) ezikhethekileyo ezivela kuThixo (1 AmaKorinte 12:4-11) Ubizo lwakho yindawo apho uThixo afuna isipho sakho sisebenze khona. Xa ungasazi isipho sakho okanye ubizo lwakho, funda ngokubanzi ngeziphiwo zoMoya oyiNgcwele okanye ucele abanye abazalwane bakuncede.

OKUFUNEKA UKWENZILE [WHAT TO DO]

Kuba ngoku unobuhlobo noThixo, kukhona izinto uzenza rhoqo:

1. Funda iBhayibhile. EBhayibhileni uThixo usixelela ukuba ungubani, indlela asebenza ngayo, nento ayifunayo kuwe. (Iindumiso 119:105). IBhayibhile iyakutshintsha. Ivangeli neendumiso ziindawo onokuqala kuzo.

2. Hlala emthandazweni (Ama-Efese 6:18). Kukho owakhe wathi  ukuthandaza kuthetha ukunika uThixo izinto ezisezandleni zakho kodwa zizezakhe. Mcele ukuba athethe nawe, akubonise indlela. Khumbula ukuba ungaceli izinto kuphela. Ukumkhonza, nokumdumisa, ukumbulela, ukuvuma izono zakho kuYe nokuthandazela abanye kubalulekile.

3. Hlala uhlangana naYe (AmaHebhere 10:25). Yiya enkonzweni, ube  negalelo kwizinto zenkonzo. Uphawu olubonakalisa ukuba udibene noYesu Krestu kukuba inkonzo ibaluleke kuwe, iye ikukhuthaze kwizinto ukungazikhathalelanga  ngaphambili. Ukuba uyakwazi yenza  iinzame zokuya kumhlangano weqela lenkonzo phakathi evekini (Izenzo 2:46)

4. Thetha ngokholo lwakho (AmaRoma 10:9) ungabinantloni ukwaziwa njengomKrestu emsebenzini nasekhaya. Xelela inkonzo yakho ngoba bazakunceda ufumane indawo yakho ebazalwaneni.

5. Khonza nabanye (AmaGalati 5:13). Oku kuquka nabo basondeleyo kuwe, njengezizalwana zakho.

AWUSAZIPHILELI. NGUYESU OKULAWULAYO!!!

Nuwe Lewe
Hoe om God in jou lewe te ken
________________________________________________

Sonde bederf. Sonde versprei.

Ek weet dat U toornig is oor my sonde.

God is nou in 'n besondere wyse in jou lewe betrokke. Hy sal dinge in jou hart verander.  Hy sal dinge in jou lewe laat gebeur.

2. Bly in gebed (Efesiërs 6:18).

3.  Bly in vennootskap (Hebreërs 10:25).

4.  Praat oor jou geloof (Romeine 10:9).

Hoe Hierdie Boekie Ontstaan Het

Plett Methodist

One of my hobbies is taking photos of local Churches -- of which more than a hundred appear on this blog. This is a photo of the new sanctuary of the Methodist Church in Plettenberg Bay. It has been a fast-growing Church in a fast-growing area. OBSERVATION: This is the kind of sanctuary that could come in quite handy -- one could instantly convert it into an aircraft hangar, for instance. It seats up to 350 people.
