Mandela Buttons

In the early days of Mandela's ascendancy, after his release from prison, there were various attempts to cash in on his name. The "Mandela Machine" soon called a halt to this -- his image could only be used with approval. At about this time, a businessman in the city, one of our members, started minting these suit buttons -- and gave me this sample. The production of the buttons was soon stopped.
