Prince Alfred Pass

I took this photo of the Prince Alfred Pass (not to be confused with the Prince Albert Pass) just north of De Vlugt, where my wife and I honeymooned. It is a scenic and sometimes hair-raising pass nearly 80 km long, through dense forest in the south to an arid area in the north. Although located between two fairly large centres, over one stretch of road we saw no other car / automobile for 20 km. At the entrance to the southern section stood a sign: Flood Damage. I thought this might mean one or two bumpy bridges. In fact it was more than 50 km of more or less continuous damage. A road to De Vlugt from the west, marked as a mere tertiary road on the map, is the best. OBSERVATION: But the access problem has its advantages: tranquility, and great prices for accommodation.
