This morning I asked a young professional how his new marriage was going. Not so well, he said. I have counselled many young couples, and some not so young. I often tell Christian couples that they are called to be pastors to each other -- both of them: "If you were a pastor, walking into your home, what you do? What would you say? What would your role be?" OBSERVATION: I think that "pastor" answers a large part of the question, and sums it up nicely. It speaks of selflessness, spiritual encouragement, prayer, patience, and having the broader view, among other things.
