I wrote up a list of things once which were tolerated or accepted in my city ministry, specifically for the purpose of advancing the work of the gospel. Yesterday I rediscovered this list when it fell out of a Bible. Here is what we decided to allow, in the order I jotted it down:
• Minor damage to property
• People wearing drag
• Communist party T-shirts
• People ululating
• Breast feeding in the pews
• Bad English
OBSERVATION: I think the last item referred to short spiritual input. I do remember that ululating was a close call. One reason for that was its religious origins -- which I would think are fairly much forgotten today. There were just a few things we didn't tolerate, such as drunkenness.
