My Father

This is a photo of my father, wearing his clerical collar in England, probably in the early 1960s. He is holding a cigarette, which was not uncommon at the time. Today this would be unusual for a minister. He quit smoking some twenty years later. The ministry -- as is so often the case -- broke his health. Yet he told me once, about ministry: "This is all I ever wanted to do."
