My latest book, Christian Jokes, was banned in several countries even as it was released. Perhaps one should say it was withheld, or disallowed. The problem is not with the book, but with religious freedom -- or lack of it. What seems interesting to me is that publishers enforce the ban on behalf of certain states, even though they do business in those states. This would seem to mean that they operate in those states on condition that they restrict religious freedom. OBSERVATION: This problem has played out in many different ways through history. I am a little surprised to find it quietly embedded in publishers today -- in this case, Amazon and Kindle.
