Shutting Down The Circle

City ministers go through trials one might never suspect. Here is an example. A local gambling house requested permission from the Church to do business near the Church. We didn't dismiss this automatically -- we gave it serious attention. Then we said no. The boss walked into the Church foyer and shouted: "I'll shut down the circle!" We were puzzled. We had no idea what he meant. We looked into it, and found it on a map: a circle with the gambling house at the centre, and the Church inside the circle. We considered this dangerous. I wrote a warm but firm letter to the boss, with a CC (carbon copy) to the police. OBSERVATION: Such CCs can be important. (We were not alone in saying no).
