Linguistic Conversion

Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla -- the former president's daughter -- is on trial in South Africa at the moment for her alleged involvement in an insurrection -- possibly an attempted coup -- in 2021. I had the privilege of being an insider to the discussion at the time. The organisers used an ingenious system of linguistic conversion, in which the things they put "out there" were not what they seemed. How did "words coincide with violence", with little evidence of incitement? [Joburg Etc.] What was it with "unrelated video" that Zuma-Sambudla was posting? [Daily Maverick]. "Literal meaning has been debated" [Daily Maverick], and the state is now needing to call in "social media and language experts" to decode what Zuma-Sambudla wrote [The Witness]. OBSERVATION: It was a very clever approach to an insurrection.
