I found an old post today in which I introduced a new deaconess -- who, completely unknown to me then, would become my wife five years later. This is what I wrote about her:
"I said, 'You’ve had an interesting life. Raised in poverty, now living in a wealthy home; raised Afrikaans and isiXhosa, now speaking English; raised on a farm, now living in the heart of the city.' She is a child-minder, and has a background in the Congregational and Old Apostolic Churches. OBSERVATION: She is a good-hearted, serious-minded young woman, who meets all our requirements for leadership. I think she will be a great asset to us."
