In my youth, I had the strange privilege of continually coming into contact with prominent and talented people. Here is an example -- with me second from the right in the photo, and my parents at the flanks. We were in the unusual situation of being on islands where there were no physical barriers between us and prominent people -- and islands to which such people came -- or in the case of local leaders, islands on which they lived.
