Opposition in ministry can be heavy -- and sometimes, reason for it may not exist -- it may be 'without cause', to use words from the Psalms. This is a problem I have with some Christian leadership theorists, who assume that righteousness trumps opposition. The point of this post, though, is that sometimes I would say to my late wife Mirjam, 'This is not what the Church is about!' She would say to me, 'Yes it is.' OBSERVATION: I believe that what she meant is that suffering and persecution are the sine qua non (without which not) of the Church. She was a co-director of the International Institute for Religious Freedom.
