Enigmatic Photo Subject

A. (pictured) is one of my favourite photo subjects. She seems to have an enigmatic look about her (click on the photo to enlarge). We call her a "sister-in-law". She is a "sister" of my wife, having been brought up in the same household. In European terms, she is a cousin. OBSERVATION: In Africa, a whole generation of women are called "mothers", and A. shared a "mother" with my wife. In Afrikaans, if it is your biological mother, it is "ma". If it is not your biological mother, it is "kleinma". The same for "pa" and "kleinpa". These are rare words in Afrikaans, translated from the Xhosa mamnci and tamnci.
