Early in my ministry, as a young man, an old woman stood up in a Church Meeting and said: "The minister never visits!" Unbelievably, she was in fact the most-visited woman in the Church. I had visited her just the week before. I was stunned. Generally speaking, too, I was very conscientious about visiting. But being a young and polite minister, I thanked her, I promised to do better, and I said nothing more -- but fumed and fretted about it after the fact. I had been done an injustice, I had been embarrassed, in a Church Meeting. OBSERVATION: This way of dealing with issues was a major source of distress in my early ministry.
