Restoring Ethics

(Post) modern philosophy -- and society -- has a big problem, in that it has lost a basis for ethics. This means not only that we have lost our bearings, but that we wouldn't even know where to look for them. The philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein wrote: "Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent" -- and he was referring, most importantly, to ethics. This morning, an essay of mine was published by Philosophical Investigations, which seeks to re-establish a philosophical basis for ethics: How Shall We Re-establish Ethics in Our Time? It could be demanding reading, but not too demanding. It is intended for an "educated public".
