Glencoe Quarry

When wife E and I were first getting to know each other, and I only referred to her as "my friend", we went on various hikes, including this one, past Cape Town's Glencoe Quarry. The quarry once provided granite for various buildings in the city. Today it is off-limits -- a restricted area -- yet is often used as a training ground for mountain climbers. The little-known quarry is an impressive sight. The pine trees at the bottom give some idea of its vastness. Usually, it is very difficult to photograph, due to sharp shadows. The overcast sky, on this day, enabled me to get a good impression. This is a super-wide angle shot.
