I took the photo on Friday night in the South African township of Mountain View. It seems typical of the townships: mast lighting, under which children are still playing at 8:32 pm -- and township children love to pose for photos. The brown shed on the right in the distance is a so-called "spaza" shop, run by people (as they often are) who speak no local language. This makes it quite comical sometimes to ask for something. This is Mountain View's main thoroughfare -- the only tarred road in the township. The curved shelter in front of the spaza shop is a bus stop, although I doubt that any buses run past here. The shelter is used as a jungle gym by children.
