When I was a child in Europe (I left Europe forever when I was four), there were a great many microcars: the Messerschmitt, Isetta, Mini, Vespa, and so on -- some very clever, and others notorious for classic shortcomings and defects (such as bursting into flame). I was fascinated by them. Later in life, I owned two rebadged Vespas -- a two-stroke and a four-stroke (the four-stroke pictured). They were economical, zippy, practical, and sociable (they had no doors), but rather fragile. Unusual features were a crank start, four reverse gears, and a very low first gear, so that one could crawl over bad roads at very low speed.
