Balancing Personal and Impersonal

There is a balance in the Church which seems hard to put into words, but it is quite important – at times critically important. It is the balance between the personal and the impersonal. The life of some Churches is too personal, while the life of others is too impersonal. Typically this will find some reflection in the Sunday services. OBSERVATION: Perhaps one can put it like this: One can so have one’s eyes on people that one takes one’s eyes off the requirements of the gospel, and one can so have one’s eyes on the requirements of the gospel that one takes one’s eyes off people.
