Our indigenous peoples have for hundreds of years relied heavily on traditional medicines. My parents-in-law depend on them a great deal -- and they are effective remedies -- in some cases stunningly effective. This post is speculative, but I suspect that the fairly sudden appearance of new diseases is disorientating people. An example is sugardiabetes. This was little known, but is now rapidly on the rise. How does one treat a disease that was not known to one's forebears? Traditionally, one has not gone to a doctor -- one's traditional remedies performed well. And here there is, I suspect, a breakdown today.
