In ministry, I have consulted a great deal. If (for example) there is anything significant on a meeting agenda, people may assume that I consulted someone with experience or expertise. If there is anything of greater significance, people may assume that I consulted several people. I once did an estimate of how many professionals I consulted during a year. It was about twenty, in various fields, and some of them I consulted more than once. OBSERVATION: I have found that people are kind and generous with their counsel where it concerns the Church. At the same time, I should note that this is no substitute for spiritual preparedness, which may be more important than all consultation.
