Irregular Times

Ministry is no nine-to-five job, nor is it a forty-hour week. My late wife Mirjam once said to me: “Your irregular times at night are a real problem!” This referred above all to supper times, which tend to be “action time” in ministry -- in spite of my informing her dutifully when I would be out or in. She missed the regularity or stability. This is no doubt the lament of many a minister's wife. Many duties can only be carried out around late afternoon or early evening. OBSERVATION: I have found that a minister is mostly home before 7:00 pm, but by far not always. And then there are call-outs at any time at all.
