Mentoring A Pastor

On 8 December 2007, on this blog, I announced that my city Church had "decided to take another Church on board". For about two years, we had mentored an African pastor, George Mpunga, permitting him to see everything that we did behind the scenes. Then our congregation, in a Church Meeting, gave his Church the go-ahead to relocate to our premises. We announced it once we had hammered out the details. His Church, which numbered about 70 at the time, agreed to pay us a tithe. Not that we needed it -- our own finances were sound. His ministry is still strong today. I believe we had a lot to do with that. We wanted that. OBSERVATION: Importantly, the congregation said that we did not want to enter into a mere business relationship with another Church, as is so often the case. We wanted it to be a relationship of mutual support and enrichment. That is how we proceeded from there.
