Predictable Preaching

Recently I listened to a sermon with wife E. A dominee preached on this line from Ezekiel:
"I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
I said observe now, he will omit the first half and preach on the second half. And so he did. OBSERVATION: It's predictable, these days. I pick it up mostly through my training in semantics (word meanings), although exegesis should do fine, too. When I say "predictable", I mean it is predictable that the bad news gets left out. But it is essential to the gospel. It is part of the text, after all. Therefore, notice what a minister leaves out. There are a few reasons why that may happen.
