Consequences Of Suicide

In ministry, I have dealt many times with suicide, or attempted suicide -- more often with thoughts of suicide. It is often said that suicide is selfish. That means, among other things, that it doesn't see the other people in the picture. In my experience, suicide does not take into account the impact it will have on others. The impact is huge. Among all the situations I have dealt with, it is better to die of cancer, it is better to be jailed, it is better to be disabled -- and so on. The consequences of suicide seem to me to be far worse than the alternatives.
