Good Friday Service

Being Good Friday today, I have on most Good Fridays in the past held a simple service of readings, hymns, and prayers. It was my late wife Mirjam's favourite service, and on occasion she conducted it. As simple as it was, there were strong attendances, and members were often moved to tears. It closed with the well known passage:
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
OBSERVATION: "Believing in Him" is hard to understand in itself (preachers often assume that people know what it means). It means believing in His power to save from sin -- of course, through of the conviction of sin. That is the grand story of the Bible: sin and redemption, with the whole story being "outshone" by God Himself.
