Earlier today, I wrote about a favourable opinion on my magnum opus -- and one which matters. It has been hard for me, working in the dark -- by which I mean, labouring in faith, sacrificing in faith, year after year -- and lately with far greater focus and effort -- without being able to assess how good my work is. One can try to assess it oneself, yet one day it seems like pure genius, another day it seems poor. I had (fairly) recent degrees behind me, which gave me some confidence of my ability, though not a lot. Today, having a top class editor tell me my work is "very well written", and can be presented to publishers, gives me some light. I am actually getting there.
