It seems to me that there are certain groups in the Church which may far outweigh their numbers, in their effect on the Church as a whole. Examples are a Sunday School, a Women's Association, and Workers' Groups. No matter how small these groups are, they bring a special joy to the Church, and in combination, spiritual balance. Also, when they are practicing "ministry by members", which is ordinarily the case in a Congregational Church, they often contribute to the health of the Church, in two ways:
• to unity in the Church, because through such ministry, diverse people come to see that they share spiritual fundamentals, and
• to growth in the Church, because churchgoers come to see that "their own" are valued spiritually -- and like attract like.
