In Congregational Churches, all members are fully members of the Body,
and all office-bearers are fully on board as office-bearers. It is as if there is no history. Of course, long-standing members make special contributions that newer members cannot -- but the opposite is also true. Newer members make special contributions that long-standing members cannot. But here is an example -- one among many. A deacon once said about another deacon -- in his presence, in a meeting -- "He doesn't count" -- for reasons to do with the above. I said that all office-bearers were fully on board. Every one should be treated with full deference. OBSERVATION:
There is a spiritual reason for this. Office-bearers are God-anointed. We are
not merely talking about people chosen for worldly experience.
