One of my favourite spiritual authors is Andrew Murray -- one of very
few Christian authors whose books are still in print a hundred years
later. Some have called him “pre-Charismatic”. He once ministered in Cape Town, not far from where I live. What I like about Murray's books is his emphasis on the weakness and
inadequacy of God’s servants, and how that should be approached
spiritually. It runs counter to the emphasis on strength and competence
that one so often (if not mostly) encounters in Christian leadership texts today. OBSERVATION: I once handed a copy of Andrew Murray to a minister who was in hospital with severe burnout. He said that book changed everything.
