I have been (hugely) tightening up both direct and indirect quotes in my metaphysic -- not inside the text, but for a Bibliography. Here are some more unusual challenges I have had in tracing sources:
• Quotes of which there are innumerable unsourced copiesOBSERVATION: Having said this, a task that can now be accomplished in a few days would not long ago have been close to impossible. It is good, too, that I first wove quotations into the text creatively, and didn't get bogged down in detail then.
• Quotes within quotes (within quotes)
• Quotes from personal journals or correspondence
• Statements on BBC TV or YouTube
• Details of extinct publishers
• Titles which are cited in various languages
• Details of Averroës' Self-Destruction of the Self-Destruction
• And Derrida -- has he been expunged from the Internet?
