Congregational ministry is about drawing out spiritual input from the congregation. Yet it requires energy and determination -- more than one might realise. Here is an example of just one attempt. I asked a young man in Church whether he would read a short liturgy -- but introduce it with a few words of his own. He couldn't read English, he said. Yet later in the week, he approached me to say that he could speak it of course. He could say a prayer. I arranged for us to meet at the Church to run him through his paces. However, he kept "going blank". He said he would ask a family member to coach him. About twenty minutes before he was to say his prayer in Church, he withdrew. OBSERVATION: I have (almost) always had a Plan B, in case things go that way.
