Following recent events in the United States, I have read a lot of calls to preach about racism, protest against racism, lend one's ear to other races, and so on. Not wishing to diminish that, such calls in my experience (having pioneered nonracial Church) underestimate the power of racism. Racism is closely allied to culture, and culture is a meaning which is so big that it subsumes (almost) all others. Towards the end of WWII, the Allies could not understand why Germany had not surrendered far sooner. The explanations I have read put it down to the power of culture. In my metaphysic, too, I explain this dynamic. OBSERVATION: In the Church, I have viewed a common faith as the solution, but even in the Church, not all share a common faith.
