Spiritual Power

I have been reading a lot of Church history lately. Pope Nicholas I, called Nicholas the Great, wielded enormous power the world over -- in spite of not having much. He liked to quote this maxim:
"The things of the Spirit triumph over the things of the world inasmuch as the spirit is superior to the flesh."
OBSERVATION: He was one of the greatest popes of the united Catholic Church, from 858-867 AD. Formerly the pope's secretary, he surprised everyone when elected pope. If your Church has a rooster on the spire, this originates with Pope Nicholas. One of my own Churches had one.
