In
the USA, at the moment, Instagram is being sued over "harm to young people's mental health". The causes are said to include "body dysphoria". But in a paper that I wrote (now published by CERN), I pointed out that body dysphoria is to a large degree due to the hardware, not the software, of smartphones. I took as an example US congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is apparently snapped here by a smartphone. The hardware may make one appear 5% or 10% thinner than what one would see in the mirror.
