Here's something that struck me about three days of mourning so far, in an Eastern Cape township. The deceased (pictured) received very little mention by name. In two services out of three, he was mentioned only twice -- and that in a perfunctory way. I said that this struck me as being unusual. In "European" services, tributes to the deceased are central. The answer: this is not about the deceased; it is about those who remain.
