Purloined Popgun

When I was a boy, my island guardian made me a toy gun -- a form of air gun. It used te mao for the bullets, and te uri for the barrel and the pump. When one pushed the pump down the barrel, the soft fruit of te uri was compressed at the end of the barrel, and shredded, and its seed travelled on. One could also use the fruit of te uri for ammunition, but that was a more serious gun, that could hurt someone. Not in all my life did I see another gun like this -- until last month, when I saw one in a China shop. Did they steal the idea from Pacific islanders?
