Nearly ten years ago, I took this photo of an "eye in the sky" (mast lighting) outside Kareedouw in the Eastern Cape. At the time, it was an isolated mast in the darkness, illuminating one of a group of four townships. By now, these "eyes in the sky" are so many that it seems like daylight all over.
OBSERVATION: The masts enhance visibility, of course, but also security.
