According to the United Nations, upwards of 100 children have died from malnutrition and hunger since the war in Gaza began. Now compare this with South Africa, where upwards of 20,000 children have died from malnutrition and hunger over the same period (see, for example, the Daily Maverick). Yet the problem in South Africa seems to be all but ignored. It is a catastrophe. OBSERVATION: I first became aware of this, not so much through the media as through seeing malnourished and hungry children on my visits to the townships.
