Back in 2007, we did a survey of women with children in our Church. This was in an urban environment. The most obvious thing here (see the graph) is that most mothers were unmarried, widowed, or divorced. They were single parents. A surprisingly large percentage (yellow) were widowed.
OBSERVATION: This had a major influence on ministry -- but enough for one post. Today, so many years later, over 60% of households in South Africa are single-parent homes.
