Problems with the HU Principle

The problems with the homogeneous unit principle (see previous), which separates "people groups" in the Church, are various.

• The early Church emphasised unity across cultural and social barriers.
• The principle leads to social and racial segregation -- particularly in suburban areas.
• Today, it is not simple to separate people into groups. The distinctions have blurred.
• While the principle is said to be effective in evangelism, what kind of evangelism?
• The principle denies the Church the opportunity to "serve one another in love".
• Human engineering would seem to take precedence over the work of the Spirit.
• A cultural and social mix brings joy in the Church.
