Through ministry, I have dealt with a number of people who were involved in corruption "big time". I discovered that such people may not be very self-aware. They may enter a kind of mind-warp, where they are hardly conscious of being involved in corruption. They come into counselling, say, and think their behaviour is a walk in the park. Which no doubt makes sense -- as they have to be unaware of much of the harm they are doing to others in order to do it.
OBSERVATION: There is something else I found. Corruption cuts across race and ethnicity.
