Fact-Finding Report

There has been a huge commotion this last week surrounding a fact-finding report. The core of it is really very simple. The treasurer of my old city Church signed a statement:

1. "The Church paid towards a Retirement Annuity for [Rev. Scarborough]. There has never been any other kind of pension."

Yet the fact-finding report established:

2. "[Rev. Scarborough] is, upon his retirement, entitled to two (2) pension payouts from two (2) separate pension funds/accounts."

OBSERVATION: Where then is the other account? It amounts to no less than R2.3 million. And note: this is not what I say. It is what esteemed attorneys discovered. There has been an attempt to smear the report. It is possible, of course, that fact-finding reports may be defective. But in general, "highly reputable law firms stake their professional credibility on the thoroughness and factual accuracy of their work."
