Jewish / Christian Banquet

Earlier this month, I attended a combined Jewish / Christian banquet following a synagogue service. And a banquet it was, as one sees -- one of several tables pictured here. One of the dominant themes of the service was the Church's regret at having been largely silent or inactive during persecutions of the Jews. A Christian participant quoted Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act." OBSERVATION: This is just as true in our own day, in all areas of life.
