Ball's Pyramid

I have seen many wonders in my life. A rare one, which even veteran travellers may not see, is Ball's Pyramid (pictured), a pinnacle in the Pacific more than half a kilometre high. As a boy, I saw it from a Boeing 707, the first commercially successful passenger jet. Curiously, Ball's Pyramid is home to an animal which survives nowhere else in the wild, Dryococelus australis. OBSERVATION: I have an indirect connection with Ball's Pyramid. Dick Smith, who later sold some of my electronics inventions, was the first man to make an attempt on the summit (he failed).
