Almost a year ago now, I was invited to join the editorial team of a re-launched Philosophical Investigations,
the "sister publication" of the Philosophical Society of England. With
its first birthday coming up on the 1st of May, I wrote a first draft of
an editorial this week to celebrate the occasion. I noted that we had sought philosophy, rather than philosophers -- and so we attracted thinkers from a wide variety of backgrounds: among them a monk, a CEO, an architect, a judge, a police chief, and many more. This had a rich mix of ideas as a result, and has I think produced some genuinely new ideas in philosophy.
