Connectivity

What strikes me about joining Facebook is how our connectivity has increased. An example is new connections I have on Tarawa, in the Kiribati Republic. When I was there as a boy, we had no 'real time' contact with the outside world, and used two-way radios over short distances, say across the lagoon. When I returned there in 1994, there were telephones -- although so few of them that telephone numbers in the whole Republic had only three digits -- and it was another thing to get them to work. Today, I can communicate in 'real time'  with any number of people on Tarawa. Just this morning, I was communicating with a theological student there. OBSERVATION: They are celebrating fifty-five years of theological education on Tarawa today.
