Congregational Church members find it hard to understand sometimes that they are, together, executive members of the Church. There are no other executives in the Church – not the minister, not the “leadership”, not the trustees, nobody. This is both a great privilege and a great responsibility. I have sought to remind the Church frequently of members’ executive status – yet still some members say: “Who me? I have nothing to do with that,” or “I just lead a group. It’s not my business.”
